Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. She is currently the president and owner-controller of the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss is a California born and raised in an affluent family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon and later owner of Lakers as well as other companies. After her parents split up in 1972, she believed they'd left her. She joined her family's business at the age of 19 and became the general manager of the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She also served as director of the Great Western Forum before assuming the role of vice president for the Lakers. Buss along with her five sisters took over his Lakers controlling ownership after the death of Buss' father in 2013. Each of the sisters had the same voice.
